Air box

Does anyone know the purpose of the small air box on top of the trottle body? This is on my '02, but I've noticed the later models don't have them. Can it be moved, and have the air tube connect directly to the TB?

Nope, its a vital part of the engine. Without it the muffler bearings will not be lubricated properly.

yes you can remove it, its just totry and deaden some of the noise of the air going into the intake just a resonator type thing

You can remove it. Mine's gone.

If you remove that you will lose 37 whp unless you use place stickers accordingly.

You can remove it........but you then gotta put a "Type R" sticker on the back window and a "fart burner" on the end of the tailpipe......then your "muffler bearings " will be ok........
