    Constant Chirping While Idling

Also, when you pull the belt off and spin the pulleys you might not hear the exact same sound of squeaking even if they are bad. They usually only sing under belt tension. You can feel the rumbling and not smooth turning bearing very easily though. I agree about replacing the tensioner with the...

    Radiator leak by drain plug

If it is the radiator it could just be age. They are mostly plastic on both sides and get brittle over time. I had the seam on the driver's side of my 2006 start to leak due to age. You have some detective work to do before you can nail it down to the radiator. If it is bad the replacement is...

    Knocking while in 4x4

I had the same noise issue that turned out to be the rear joint of the front shaft as well. I had replaced it once already with a cheap one from Detroit Axle. After 18 months the noises started and it nearly seized up. My Napa Replacement shaft has given me no issues. If that turns out to be...

    Misfire woes

Car Computer Exchange is another good vendor for these. I found them through Lost Jeeps. They asked for a lot of details including the VIN, Build Date, Serial Number from the old PCM and more. They sent me a perfect plug and play replacement.

    Misfire woes

I just went through the same song and dance with the cylinder 4 misfire issues. After chasing the problem in a dozen different ways I realized the PCM was the issue. I installed the new PCM and like magic the misfire was gone. The circuit for cylinder 4 going bad in the PCM is apparently a...

What did you do to your jeep today?

Very recently replaced (today it is -4 degrees so I am hiding indoors..): Complete front struts Tie rods Lower ball joints Upper control arm with ball joints All done with Moog Parts and thanks to creative coupon use at Advance Auto I paid roughly $400 for the parts. The loaner ball...

Should we get a Liberty for our daughter ?

I am teaching my son to drive in my 2006. It will most likely be his after he gets his license. It has 131,000 miles and is still going strong. I feel that he would be very safe if he accidentally "bumped something" while driving it. Also this will be a good excuse to buy a new Jeep for dad!

    Wheel/tire combo rub potential

I must start by saying that I went through all 23 pages of the tire section and still didn't have my answer so I figured I would ask it directly. I have four brand new 225/75-16 General Grabber AT2s and want to mount them on Crager 397s as my winter wheels. The size that is available is 16X7...

My brake rotors are warped at 10,000 miles

Oh no, I never take anything that is not under warranty to a dealer. I prefer to fix things myself unless it is a major PIA

My brake rotors are warped at 10,000 miles

I had my 2006 inspected today and I mentioned to them about the slight shimmy I get when braking, They came back with a $300 quote to replace my warped rotors. I was pissed! I don't even have 11,000 miles on the damned thing and my rotors are bad! The stealership service manager agreed that...

    Loud Noise Hitting Bumps

We finally hit sub 20 degree weather here and right on cue the sway bar bushings started ******** going over bumps. Like everything else "It's a Jeep Thing" and it is part of their charm.

New a service manual for my 06

I had a rear window that wouldn't go down after going up. It was broken and had to be replaced. Keep an ear out for clicky grindy sounds because they cack out soon after.

ROTORS -- steering wheel now shimmies

Only when I am servicing the muffler bearings and topping off the turn signal fluid....:D

ROTORS -- steering wheel now shimmies

I have been doing my own brakes on cars and trucks for a long time. The first time it feels a little odd but it really is a "remove and replace" kind of operation. Each vehicle is a little different but the overall layout is the same for most brakes. I like the whole rear disc setup especially...
