They’re probably similar, i believe most flushes are citric acid. You might not need it, a few flushes with water will get most of the stuff out. Its probably the iron engine block rusting, the radiator is aluminum. Once you flush it out and get the new coolant in it it should stop rusting...
Two quarts every 3500 while doing 7000 a year is only 4 quarts a year. For a knock around second vehicle I would try running a diesel oil like a 20w-50 before replacing the engine. Or just keep adding oil.
Never had that problem. Depends how long you want to keep the car. You might be able to remove the gearing and just glue it in place if you don't want to put any money into it. Otherwise maybe replace the whole thing with a junkyard unit.
Apparently the rear lower control arms of my 2007 were already replaced under a 2012 recall. Maybe this recall covers more vehicles that werent covered?
Yeah a sensor is going out and coming back, theres a battery in there that has a finite lifespan. I replaced mine with dorman ones, they still go out and come back every so often. I dont’t know if any other brand is any better.

In my experience torx bit sockets work GREAT for stripped hex bolts. Tap the largest torx bit socket you can fit in the hole then zip it right out. 2 minute job.
