They’re probably similar, i believe most flushes are citric acid. You might not need it, a few flushes with water will get most of the stuff out. Its probably the iron engine block rusting, the radiator is aluminum. Once you flush it out and get the new coolant in it it should stop rusting...
Two quarts every 3500 while doing 7000 a year is only 4 quarts a year. For a knock around second vehicle I would try running a diesel oil like a 20w-50 before replacing the engine. Or just keep adding oil.
Never had that problem. Depends how long you want to keep the car. You might be able to remove the gearing and just glue it in place if you don't want to put any money into it. Otherwise maybe replace the whole thing with a junkyard unit.
Apparently the rear lower control arms of my 2007 were already replaced under a 2012 recall. Maybe this recall covers more vehicles that werent covered?
Yeah a sensor is going out and coming back, theres a battery in there that has a finite lifespan. I replaced mine with dorman ones, they still go out and come back every so often. I dont’t know if any other brand is any better.
Depends how much time they want to put into it. In their case let them just sell it and be done with it. Paying a body shop $2k to maybe sell it for $3k isnt worth the effort either. For a minimum wage earning teenager with the time and inclination to fix it with salvage parts it is absolutely...
Depends what you want to do with it. I can see the truck being more useful for home depot runs and the wrangler being a better trail rig.
For my family, if our vehicles were to die I could see us buying a vw altas family vehicle and a lexus hybrid commuter vehicle. For our actual use case that...
In my experience torx bit sockets work GREAT for stripped hex bolts. Tap the largest torx bit socket you can fit in the hole then zip it right out. 2 minute job.
At the yearly inspection they seem to mainly be concerned with obd codes as far as emissions go. As long as it clears the codes i wonder if a non california cat would ever get noticed.
Its not like the pre obd days where they actually put a tester in the tailpipe.

Found that on google after reading about the problem here:

I probably dont care enough to go out and install...
I have the '07 also. It is a changeover year but there's nothing so bad that I would stay away from it. At least it has the better pcv location so it doesn't have the moisture problem.
I was burning out my brake light bulbs faster than I would like so I put in red philips led brake light bulbs maybe a year ago and have had no problems so far. They shouldnt get as hot, and led bulbs light up a split second faster which is supposed to be safer anyway. I put in led reverse lights...
