Its interesting that the carbon build up on these pieces would cause such a huge issue when getting from 1st to 2nd gear. I am going to be trying this out tomorrow, and will update with new information as it emerges.- Jessonater

Automatic Transmission Stuck From 1st to 2nd
Hi All: Recently ran into problems with the Jeep Liberty Sport 2002. The jeep is having a tough time getting from 1st into 2nd. When this happens the RPMS struggle then drop, and the car dies. Currently in the process of grabbing engine codes -- as the light is on. But, I also...- Jessonater
