not sure about that. i know some of the covers are plate steel, but i dont know about the housings themselves. dont really know too much about it.

bumpers, rails, and such are all made from formed and welded sheet steel or rod. the tooling cost is very low to make these products. in comparison, a differential housing is a cast part requiring a much higher initial investment in tooling. you could go out right now and get a tool designed...

check out the stabilizer bar. those rubber bushings shrink in the winter and it might be moving around. i have a similar noise going on in very low speed turns / parking maneuvers. i have quick disconnects and i know those are making the sound, so i just thought it might be a similar situation.

11/23/08 I put new tires on the Jeep. Went with Cooper Discoverer ST in 245/75 r16. This change was to replace the old, worn, MT/Rs and to get some better wet and winter traction

this is the best image i could find online. its right below the speedometer and above the odometer in the black area. in this low-res photo it just appears as a faint red line.

yeah, thats not a light. it is indeed printed on there. but in certain light it looks like it is glowing, so i know what you mean. i did a double take the first couple times too.
