Thanks - I plan on jacking it up this weekend and checking the BJ's etc. so will have a look at the CVJ's as well. I've taken it for a drive and it does sound to me like bottoming out suspension, but I'll know more after I get a chance to take a closer look at it..

Well, when we bought the KJ used it was fine for the wife driving to & from work, and the occasional trip to the city. Now it thumps bad in the front when hitting things like train tracks etc.. & she just wants it "like it was" - which is why I figured the monroe combo pictured here would...

I hear a slight knock in my 04 when first started up, but it seems to go away completely after 5-10 minutes or so. I just attributed it to a noisy lifter that seems to quiet down once warmed up. Anyone else run into this on their V6?

thanks - this vehicle is 99% just driven to and from town & some highway usage, very little off road, so I think it should suffice. So even with the complete unit like this one needs to separate the ball joint? I've got a pickle fork I used to tie rod ends, but I don't know if it's big enough...

My 04 is in bad need of front shock replacement. With the amount of miles on it I'm thinking I'll replace the springs as well. I was looking at the complete Monroe assembly here and am wondering how involved it is to change the complete units like this, doable by a driveway mechanic? Do any...

Update - got my new rotors and pads from Amazon, installed them on the weekend and problem is gone. When I pulled the pass side rotor where the noise was coming from the two linings(what was left of them) from the parking brake shoes were lying in the inner drum. That explained the noise...

so a person should be able to see those with the rotor removed I'm assuming?

Well ordered some new rotors today so when I put them on I'll get to dig a bit deeper into this. The noise I'm hearing doesn't happen at a certain speed or under certain conditions like turning, it's completely random. Yesterday it did it while I was driving in my sub division at about 40KMH...

When I had the back end up I never checked for play etc, but I will check again when I get a chance. I have my doubts about wheel bearing though, given that it (the sound) completely goes away at times. Anytime I've had a wheel bearing fail there has been a grinding noise and you usually can't...

Sorry forgot - it's an 04 with the V6 in it. Was wondering about parking brake - rotors are getting pretty bad so ordering some from Amazon this week - haven't taken a close look at them inside yet but assuming there something like my F250 rotors with the inner drum for park brake.

My wife's KJ has on again off again rubbing sound, which sounds like its coming from the rear passenger side wheel. At first I thought it was maybe a sticking pad but braking doesn't affect it. I don't think its a u-joint, as the vibration usually increases or decreases on acceleration or...

Thanks - can they (OME) be bought as a complete kit like the Monroes? My stock are most definitely shot, you can feel it on any bump at speed. Do you have a link for the OME units? This is my wife's ride and is just driven around town mostly, little or no off road & the 4WD is mostly...

I just found this thread, was searching on how to change front shocks on my 04 KJ and ended up here. Assuming one gets the Monroe kit mentioned in the OP - is this a fairly easy install? I also am just interested in replacing stock, don't want or need any lift etc.. thanks

thanks - I'll take a look at dropping the pan this weekend. On my F250 I dropped the pan & changed the filter the 1st time I changed the ATF, but after that when I change the ATF I just disconnect the return line from the ******, put a clear tube on it and cycle the ATF into a container by going...
