04 KJ Trans and towing question

Well gang, thanks for all the help! But after careful consideration I decided to buy a Porsche Cayenne for towing duties! It’s rated at nearly 8k lbs towing capacity. Should haul this little trailer with no issue!

04 KJ Trans and towing question

Here is a pic of the cooler I mentioned. It appears the lines do go back to the trans… I like the idea of the PML pan, that’s an easy one. I read in another thread about a scanner (Scangauge) that seems to monitor temps and multiple other items, that would be a good addition. I’m due for new...

04 KJ Trans and towing question

Hey all, been awhile since posting, the 3.7 KJ is doing well. My wife and I are purchasing a small 2900’- 19’ long (Cherokee Wolf Pup 14cc) trailer and I’m trying to figure out if i have the “aux” trans oil cooler. My trans only has about 20k on it as it was a new install a couple of years ago...

    A bit of a growl...

I haven't yet. I should have done that when it was up in the air doing other things a couple of weeks ago. Didn't even think about it. I'll give that a shot and see what happens. Seems a little too deep though for tires... Interesting you mention a howl, I do get a bit of that around 45 MPH as...

    A bit of a growl...

Be awhile since I've posted, but this one has me stumped. 2004 3.7. I've got a bit of a low speed "growl" around 10-20mph. Seems to be from the rear end. I've got Wrangler Dura-trac tires, about 9 months old. OME 1.5 lift. I've had the thing off the ground, no unusual play front or rear, all...

    lifting back to stock height.

I have to say, I am with Tom 1000%. If you intend on keeping the Jeep for any length of time, save up the money and do the exact OME setup Tom is talking about... Just do it.

    Thumping Knocking noise over bumps

I did the same with mine at about 04- 125k. My clunk was lower control arms. Both the clevis mount bushings and arm bushings were toasty. I went cheapish and did Crown from JBA. Its a pretty straight forward job, torque wrench REQUIRED. I did mine in about 2.5hrs or so... Not too many sentence...

Been awhile... finally went JBA UCA's

Well, for now, I think my lifting is complete. Went with the "little" OME lift a few months ago, and was pretty happy overall. I had purchased the Rocky Road Outfitters upper strut "trim plates" at the time (more on those later) but néver got them installed as I was hemming and hawing the $ for...

Replacing front drive shaft, old shaft does not rotate

Not an issue for removing the front driveshaft. It is completely disengaged when not in 4wd, thus the rear end a: never leaves the ground, b: can stay in gear. But, it's always good practice to block the wheels anyway.

Replacing front drive shaft, old shaft does not rotate

Just did the overhaul. At least one wheel off the ground. Here's the thing, raise the drivers side with a small chock you can get to. It makes bolt removal faster and easier. You can block 3 of the bolts with a box wrench, but you will need to chock the tire or lower it (a pain) to get the last...

    Darth Vader & a Stormtrooper - or 2 Renegades

Renegades are pretty cool. I'd take one. Like them better than the run-of-the-mill Cherokee.
