I have an 03 sport that makes a loud squealing rotational noise when I am driving and turning right. The sound is louder the faster I go (though I haven’t gone over 40 recently) and only when I turn right. It happens if I accelerate or brake. If I go left or straight there is no noise but the...
Yeah, I will have to do that soon.
The mechanic just called and said the e-brake pads are falling apart and that's what was getting stuck and causing the axle to make the noise. Of course while he was in there he saw that the brake pads are really low and there was a cross-threaded wheel stud...
Not sure what it has. Is there any way to tell other than taking the differential cover off...if the mechanic still can't get it to make any noise? I've never changed the fluid or put any in, so I have no idea how old/worn it might be.
I have a 2003 Jeep Liberty Sport 4x4 with about 123k miles. My wife noticed this yesterday. When he was coming to a stop or slowing down by taking her foot off the gas, there would be a random clunking/clicking sound coming from what I can tell is the rear. Kind of like something was stuttering...
Okay, thanks for the help...I'll definitely do it myself instead (way cheaper). And now thinking about it on my Jeep GC, I wonder if my tensioner is starting to wear because when I start up, the belt squeaks until it's warmed up and it's a new belt. lol
Is there any way to pinpoint if it is the pulley that's making the noise? I've tried to listen with the hood open but there's so much other noise that it's hard to hear exactly where it's coming from
Thanks good to know. Yeah he said the aftermarket one would be $116, plus 100 in labor. He said the dealer had a different size pulley (that he'd have to measure to see what he needed) but he didn't price that one.
The job itself doesn't sound hard, I just want to make sure I'm replacing the...
Okay, My wife has an 03 Liberty Sport. Right after we got it about 3 years ago it started to get some ticking, clicking sound when idling. Left it alone for 2.5 years and ir gradually for worse and then suddenly in a day it was a horrid grinding sound. Mech checked it out and it was the AC...
thanks for the tips. but the ac was definitely shot. it was such a loud sound and was only getting worse every time we drove. he replaced it and there isn't a single sound coming out of the ac compressor. even ticking that has been there since we bought the vehicle has disappeared.
the...
ok, just wanted to make sure nothing would be damaged if it wasn't charge and we drove for a while like that. if the humidity is a problem we can always take it in to be serviced, i just don't want to break anything in the meantime
mechanic said it was a bad a/c unit. so hes getting a used one (with a warranty) to put it, but i wanted to see if anyone knew if it was ok to not charge it yet and hold off a few months, or will it damage it not to have freon in it?
Thanks!
okay, so we had a mechanic listen to it since we dont have time to drop it off and he just said that he needs to spend time with it and listen. it could be a pulley like the tensioner or water pump but he has to take the belt off and spin each pulley separately to see which is making the noise.
ok, im at work, but my wife is driving it and hes telling me its getting worse. she said it got worse earlier and now shes out again and said its even more worse now. I'll see if she can swing it into a garage to look at it quickly.
but yeah, now it's just consistently making that sound...
okay, thanks...is there any way to narrow down if it's the tensioner/pulley? one post said something about if it gets louder with the a/c on, that is an indication it's that. i'll have to have my wife check it out when she goes to work since i'm not home and then i'll report back.
also, not...
