    Engine spacer

Just put the engine back in a 2002 jeep liberty, and forgot to put the steel spacer in between the engine and transmission. It starts and runs fine. I think I can separate the engine and transmission to slide it in, but is it necessary to do that?? I shoved it in a Rubbermaid container with the...

    ASD fuse timing

Since there was no reply, I will let everyone know what happened. I let my son help with the timing, and he was off by a tooth on the crank gear. Had to pull the cover and line everything up again, but now it runs fine. Sat in the driveway and idled for a long time. No codes. ABS light is on...

    ASD fuse timing

It's the 30 under the hood. I know the IAC should throw it's own code, but the idle reving up and down made me want to clean it. I don't see how the chain tension being uneven would cause the timing to look like it's off a tooth. I think I am going to pull both valve covers again and take a...

Tune up - Best parts (Newcomer)

Might want to mention what engine you have people here are funny if you don't give all the info. I would add cleaning the IAC and the throttle body. They get gummy and it's bad. I have Bosch plugs in the one that's running and they seem to be good. If the O2 sensors have not been replaced, might...

    ASD fuse timing

I'm working on the IAC now I cleaned it out, but I don't think it's working. If I manufacture a vacuum leak, it will idle fine. But rough. It still feels like timing is off. Either the PO pulled the bulb for the CEL or the bulb died. I have codes for the intermittent cam sensor P1391 and the...

    ASD fuse timing

I am working on a 2002 liberty sport. Rebuilt the engine, 3.7l, installed it last weekend and the timing was off a tooth. I went to clock it back, and the wedge poped out and the tensioner expanded. I got the gear back on and it started and sounded good, but I didn't like how tight the chain...

    Timing issue. Blowing asd fuse

Well, I found the problem. The key that drives the timing gear on the crank failed. It was catching enough to start, and be intermittent. I was running out of options as I had checked everything else. If I knew how to post a picture I would. Trying to decide if I should replace the gear.

    Timing issue. Blowing asd fuse

It was suggested that the code might appear because my timing was off. I adjusted the timing to see if that was the issue. That was when the ASD fuse blew. I put the timing back where it was and the ASD fuse is fine but I am throwing the P0340 and the P1391 again. I am thinking the slack timing...

    New from Xenia Ohio

Right now I have 4 jeeps 1998 xj, 2 2002 kj, and a 1969 commando. Had a grand wagoneer and a 1989 xj wagoneer. Worked on all of them. Never to a dealership. These liberties are making my life miserable. Thanks for the help.

    Timing issue. Blowing asd fuse

Ok, I have put 4 different cam sensors in, one being Mopar. Mopar won't start it. When I did the head gaskets, I put new timing chains and guides and tensioners on it. The sensor side chain seems slacker than the drivers side. Could the tensioner be bad allowing the chain to slack and cause the...
