This will make a lot of people happy, I would say:

Wagoneer ho! Jeep confirms return of legendary SUV

Hot on the heels of Ford’s announcement at the Detroit Auto Show that it’s bringing back the Bronco, Jeep confirmed plans to introduce new Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer large SUVs.

Unlike the Jeep Grand Cherokee, which uses a car-like unibody, the Wagoneers will be body-on-frame trucks and built in the Michigan assembly plant that currently produces Ram 1500 pickups.

I always liked those old "Waggy's" and had a chance to drive one a few times as several friends had them back in the day.

I'm excited to see these back on the road - but I probably won't be driving one...

I saw a video with Mike Manley (Jeep CEO) and he said they will be a "premier" addition to the Jeep lineup with prices in line with Range Rover/Discovery models. Fully tricked out they will be in the $100,000 range :Insane:

Now that I'm driving an XJ it's kinda funny that Jeep is bringing back the bigger SUV - they dropped the XJ when fuel prices hit $4 a gallon and sales took a dump. I consider the XJ a large vehicle (certainly the largest vehicle I've owned) but not like a GMC Denali or Ford Expedition. Seems the Grand Wagoneer will be about that size - hopefully fuel prices don't kill it.

Anybody hear which engine options they'll have?

the prices for those don't sound fun at all.

Yeah, I think it is going to compete with the likes of the GMC Yukon, Ford Expedition, both BOF Big Beasts like Bob mentioned, and also the Caddy Escalade.....another Big BOF Beast. All pretty pricy and big v-8 powered.

Even the Waggy was a big beast with plenty of room and an AMC 360 that got poor mpg's and was pricy even back in the day.

Can't wait. Maybe a replacement for the LR3, since the new Discoveries don't look proper at all.

Friends of mine had one - and when I babysat for them, I got to drive it. I loved that thing. So did they, but when it was time to replace it is when Jeep discontinued them.

They bought an exploder...then another. Three boys + hockey or lacrosse gear = Wagoneer was perfect. The explorer worked, but they didn't like it as much.
