So when i bought my kj few months ago the engine sounded good. Bought it in LA . when i drove back home to SD (about 2 hour drive) it had a tick. When i turrned off the engine and started it again went away but if i drove it for more than a hour could hear it again. So i did what anybody would do and did oil change and filter. Now the tick got louder but after i drive it for about an hour, if i turn off the engine and turn it on it goes away. But after a short drive the freaking tick comes back. You can clearly hear it coming from the left side if youre standing it front of engine. I have no power loss at all and the tick doesnt get louder if i rev it up or anything.no engine codes. sounds like a deseal engine. Driving me and wife insane. The kj is perfect besides that tick...

Sounds like when the oil warms up the sound starts. Thicker oil may help, but I'd try to identify the noise as close as you can and see what teeje and the others say.

Yes. Please take a look at the videos. Everything from a bad timing chain set, wrist pin, dropped/sticking valve, just copy the link of the video as to which one sounds like yours and we'll go from there.
