Just snagged up a 2002 Jeep Liberty Limited 4x4 with the 3.7L. Its got leather and doesn't even look like the back seat and back cargo area has even been used. Just a DD for a guy my G-friend worked with.... oh and get this, all for the awesome price of.... A carton of cigarettes, thats right 30 bucks!

Here is the catch.... its got 120000 miles on it, needs tires and it sounds like it has spun a bearing and a rod is knocking. other than that it actually runs really great. I think its just the bottom end needs to be taken care of.

so where is a good place to pick up a set of rods and bearings for this bad boy? And who is the rebuild expert on here.

Also I've been looking into a salvage motor and want to know if i can use the newer blocks at all? I know there are different electrical components but can i just strip one and use the shortblock and maybe the heads? Anyway thanks for any info you guys might have for me and i appreiciate it guys.

Hi Noob. And OMG I wish that was me... you got LUCKY.

As far as a salvage engine... it HAS to come from a 2002. There is a way, which is posted on here, but is too much of a headache, IMO.

cool just found a motor for 750 bucks..... just got to strip it and swap out some stuff.

i have some time so all i need is the engine out of the 2002.... swap out the crank and heads and basicly just put it back together and done.... weekend project and have a clean title 10,000 dollar truck back up on the road for about 900...... damn! glad these things are simple...lol just wonder what the drivetrain is like and if the 4x4 has ever been shifted into 4x4. I know if you don't do it at least once a month it can get kinda stiff to opperate and doesn't get lubed like it should.
