No,RP claims it will work,ATF-4 is labeled so.

Personally I would not use anything but ATF-4. Royal Purple is NOT ATF-4.

Previous engineer on a boat with a 2,500 gallon oil sump. It had six element filters , a centrifuge, and a seperate 500 gallon used oil tank for cleaning. Some friction modifiers were added after oil sampling once a month. The oil change interval was 10,000Hrs. Old school technology This engine was 1968 on a boat holding the world record in tons salvaged. She pretty much never shut down. 328R.P.M. W.O.T.

I change my auto oil's and fluids at recommended intervals. Adding coolers, sump capacities, etc helps but just change it when your supposed to.
