I guess I must be lucky because I just returned from vacation roadtrip to Colorado (from California) and I never got less than 20mpg even though the trip contained non-trivial off-road segments in San Juan Mountains (often 4wd low).
My numbers:

Well I have about 6500 miles on my 09 and so far I have been getting any where from 18-20 city and 22-28 interstate. But I just moved to WA from TN and on the way I was pulling a trailer that was had a loaded trailer with about 4500 pounds and i was getting about 10 miles to the gallon average.

I gave up on mileage a long time ago 
I will tell you that doing 80 in 3rd gear ( I have a 6 speed) with climbing hills here in CO, my Scan gauge drops off to 1.2ish

My 02 sport , 98k miles , 4*4 , 3.7, auto with 3:73's is getting 17.0 to 17.5 consistently. I am running 85% highway 15% city. I pulled the 3rd cat and have a turbo muffler on there right now. I have a 33" (longest style) Magnaflow straight through on the way. We will see if it picks up any more after that.......the original mileage before these mods was 16.4 ....J
