Yup, it was from a pick and pull, thought I was going to be wasting $20 but it worked ... mostly. I will definately upgrade to my model year when I have the spare $. I was just bored that day stumbling around the wrecker. For what its worth the temp sensor was from an unknown Chrysler but it was definatly not a KJ as there where none in the yard, exact same though!

What is the best EVIC for a 2007 Sport? I'm assuming a 2006 or later model would work more seamlessly. I saw a bunch of earlier models on eBay but none for later years so I may have to hunt for one at a salvage yard. Any ideas?

Just got my EVIC put in yesterday. luxhello.gif I can't believe how awesome it is. It only took about an hour and a half to put in. Cutting the headliner is incredibly scary  (and tedious i might add) with the thought of one slip up and well you can imagine. The dome lights actually seem brighter and more focused on each of the front seats. By the way the first thing i did after install was de-select the rolling locks feature. Maybe i am old school but i hated that one. LOL

PS

I referred to the pictures of the plug and pinouts on this site http://www.wjjeeps.com/evic.htm as my colors were different than other years. What a godsend, only had to hook up once. :)

I took a chance and snagged a 2004 EVIC off eBay. Apparently it has all the TPMS stuff. My KJ lacks TPMS. Does anyone know if a TPMS EVIC will work on non-TPMS vehicles or would I be constantly nagged about having no sensors?

I wasn't really wanting TPMS. If there is someone that has a non-TPMS 2004+ EVIC and wants the joys of TPMS, I'd be willing to do a straight up swap.

I have a 2004 TPMS EVIC in my 2005 CRD. It works great you just need 2004 or earlier sensors and a training magnet. As I understand the 2005 and later TPMS EVICs will not work in my 2005 because of a lack of TPMS antenna.

So if you get an EVIC made for the TPMS there is a seperate antenna somewhere to receive the signal from the sensors? I can't find anything on that in my service manual.

Also, the sensors themselves have a battery in them i assume? I could live without TPMS but if i happen across an EVIC with the sensors i could always put the sensors in when i put on new tires in the fall, but if they have been around for a while and have batteries in them i would imagine its a good idea to change them instead of having to pull the tire off again later?

I have a 2003, if i bought an EVIC with TPMS and the sensors is there anything else i need to do other than find one of those training magnets??

Also, does anyone know the part number for an 03' EVIC, NON-TPMS, NON-Sunroof? I can find a lot of salvage yards online but they don't have pictures of the parts and they want a part number to identify.

Before 2005 the TPMS system was all located in the EVIC and a training magnet was used to locate the sensors. 2005 and after the sensors were monitored thru the wireless module and three antenna were located one each in three of the fender wells. The newer TPMS determines which wheel the sensors are automatically and I think report the temperature of the tire.

I'm going to have to start surfing eBay for an 04 EVIC. My trips to the local wrecking yards has collected a total of three EVICS & OTIS modules, none of which will display the ambient temperature (minor detail). Maybe I can sell my extra units there too.

I have an 04 EVIC w/ TPMS and sunroof controls. if you want it. I was going to post it for sale sometime soon. I was going to use it on my 06 but I don't really want to deal with TPMS.

TPMS saved me a tyre recently, picked up a nut and bolt, but I felt nothing even when the EVIC was telling me the pressure had dropped to half it's proper value. I think that by the time I felt something the tyre would have been damaged beyond repair. I would have felt it on a bend, but the road was dead straight.

Does anyone have the part number for the Ambient Air Temp sensor that feeds the EVIC info?? I took the grill off my 03' today and the wiring plug is there so i should be good to go on fitting an EVIC but i have to find the sensor.

I got a possible line on a cheap used EVIC so i'm part of the way done.

The plug is there but not the sensor? Usually its there for the engine computer to get its inlet air temp.

Mine is an 03' so no... From what i understand it was 04' and later that had the sensor stock and also used it for engine control. Mine has the air temp sensor in the intake manifold.
