Clay Bar and Wax

I finally got the nerve to clay the KJ. I'm thrilled with the results.

PS- For those who are curious, I used a Mother's clay bar kit...

And did you use mothers wax that comes with the package or something else?
These pictures don't do justice, you need to wait til its dark, and take a picture with the flash, close by direct on one of the panels, then we can see if you did a good job or just dusted the jeep.

Probably about 90 min overall, but for just the clay/wax part about 45 min.

That looks great! It's virtually impossible to ruin your paint with a claybar. You can leave nasty residue that's a PITA to remove, but no need to fear it as long as you follow the correct procedure. Oh, and you'll be even more impressed if you move past Turtle Wax!

I've been watching that NVT Tech Wax (Meguire's) for some time, but can't justify the cost. I'll look into Mother's wax next time. Thanks.

The NXT 2.0 is worth the money. I did a comparison between the NXT 2.0 and a high quality carnuba paste wax ($30 for 8 oz, so not the best available, but not cheap) on our vehicles over time and the NXT 2.0 works spectacularly. It also beads up water nicely. I would totally recommend it.

You are starting to motivate me.....almost. Mine is full of mud and It will be in the mud again on the 25th so I don't feel like cleaning the outside yet. I only did the inside for now.

....and Turtle Wax is for Turtles, not jeeps......

Lookin' good. I'm gonna give mine a clay/polish/wax when the temp. gets above 70. Probably won't happen until next month. I'll be sure to take some before/after pics.

Ok, so I got the jeep all cleaned up since the mud bath and have a clay bar kit so I am a little leary of trying it (never used one before) and messing something up. So now I am thinking of practicing on the car and not the jeep. Now undecided.....

Do it. Just lube it, rub in a straight line, and wipe down. Just take your time.

If it makes you feel better, try it in an un noticeable spot.....

The worse you can do is get **** on the paint, and it'll come off with detailer spray. Have fun with it!!!
