seriously...
Harbor Freight Badlands ZXR (if you're cheap) or Apex (if you want synthetic and wireless remote right out of the box) is a great bet.
I have one of their pre-Badlands series 12k winches (2011), and I've abused the hell out of it. Still going. Lots of people have beat them to hell and back and they're still going. Plus they're pretty inexpensive so if you do kill it, not large scratch out of the account. It's $180 if you want a 2 year warranty, and here's a little nugget about that... If you get ANY extended warranty on ANY of their products, when you use it you can but the warranty AGAIN for the same amount, and the clock resets. so a $600 winch with $180 warranty added on, if you kill it inside the 2 years and pay $180 again, you get 2 years again.

Name drop time:
Casey LaDelle (Cascade Heavy Rescue)
Matt's Offroad Recovery (every rig they own. heck the WLORW has I think 6 of them?)

Thanx for the reply :)

I have 1.5" lift H&R springs... how much did your front end sag with this weight? Did you measure?
I was thinking I would do a clevis lift to compensate for whatever droop the weight gives. I was aiming at a 12k OpenRoad winch. Weight is 26.8kg so about 59lb
still not sure if I am going forward tho, I was selling a motorcycle to clear out the shop and use the money and space for this... Dude ghosted me... will see :)

There is a small amount of sag from adding the winch and of course what you would expect over time. Nothing that is to concerning. I’m not sure the measurements from before the winch, but I measured the front and rear today. The front is 21” from the center of the wheel to the bottom of the fender and 34.5” from the ground to the bottom of the fender. The rear is 21” from the center of the wheel to the bottom of the fender and 35.5 from the ground to the bottom of the fender. The jeep rides great, I don't have any complaints in that sense. I just think I would have preferred the heavier springs based on the added weight up front although I have never experienced the heavier sprints (I believe they are the 790). I will probably pick up as set at some point just to try them out. This picture was taken after the lift was installed back in 2022.

I have the OME heavy duty front springs along with a Mile Marker SEC12 and an Axion skid plate under there. Altogether 10 bolts tying it all together, not just the four on the front of the frame. Easily pushing a hundred pounds for everything. The lift on the front is about 3/4 inch. Before adding the winch, it was an inch. I’m not going to say it rides like a Cadillac; it’s pretty firm.
