Why would you even consider apologizing to the PETA people?

Deer

I think you, and your Jeep came out pretty lucky. It looks like the only damage is to your plastic bumper cover. I imagine your insurance would pay $400 for a replacement part and labor to install it, might as well put it towards a steel ARB.

I don't remember what show it was...on Discovery Channel I believe...but they tested and showed those deer "whistles" that stick on your bumper do nothing to deer. Best bet is ARB or similiar solid metal bumper as others have stated.

Do these deers just jump in or do you hit them when they are just on the side of the road?
If latter, you may want to invest in better lights as well. I am from city, we don't hit any animals around here, other than those who know how to drive.

ARB is the way to go :) i found my ARB used but that is real hard to come by (especially for an 05-07). 4wd.com can get them too.. that was the best price i found for a new one. I still have my old bumper.. but it is supposed to be sold this friday. If the person doesnt take it friday it's still up for grabs

Thanks for the offer, i may go ARB. I believe that i am one of those luck few that are a deer magnet. Plus it is deer country out here. Oddly enough it is a place where i have seen several so i am on alert. This doe came full speed out of the ditch, which is rare for out here. They usually stand on the shoulder and look at you like Go ahead make my day. LOL

In the rural areas of the US deer have gotten to be a real problem, especially during the rut.

I only appologized because i love this board and you never know they may be lurking LOL :)

PETA people do not lurk on 4x4 boards. I'd bet on it. And even if you got a complaint, it would be by someone who doesn't own a 4x4, found this thread on a search engine and registered for the SOLE purpose of complaining.

Then they'd never return and continue to drive their environmentally friendly hybrid with a trunk full of toxic batteries which have to be replaced every 7 years.

Now we'll get complaints.protest.gif
