Okay, so I've started looking at mufflers for the KJ finally, since I've recovered from the accident money-wise, and I have a few questions. Firstly, I was looking at the race series on the Magnaflow site, and came up with this one: http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/shopexd.asp?zone=main&id=7844 Now, I have no idea whether this will fit or not, but I'm not looking at the tiny one, but the longer one. Are these going to be ridiculously loud to the point of me getting ticketed for making too much noise in residential areas? I couldn't seem to find any info on that aspect.

Everything I'm finding seems to say 2.5" tubing and 3" tips--does that mean that where everything on the Magnaflow site says 2.5/2.5 are mufflers that aren't going to fit? Basically I'm trying to get myself a muffler and a tip so that I can have it exit in front of the rear wheel on the passenger side. I also have a question regarding that, because I do have running boards, and they seem like they will be in the way. I don't want any headers right at the moment, just the muffler and the tip, and I'm pretty much set on Magnaflow for the brand. Any advice/suggestions/answers would be extremely nice =P

The muffler you have in that link will not fit the liberty. You need a 2.5in center inlet and a 2.5in offset exit.

Are you wanting the full cat back or just a muffler and a tip? Its kinda hard to get just a tip for the stock exhaust on the kj since the exhaust is hidden up under the rear bumper. An after market cat back will drop the exhaust down so that a tip can be added.

A magna flow muffler should not sound too loud on the 3.7l. Gotta remember its just a V-6 so it will not sound as loud or as good as a V-8. I took my muffler totally off and it wasnt ridiculously loud. It was not something I would want all the time though.

Also took the muffler off our Hemi, everything on the inside rattled and you couldnt talk to the person in the Jeep with you. :)

Somewhere between being sane and insane!
MagnaFlow Ultra Race muffler part# 14416,a $2 turndown from parts store,two 2.5" clamps,and a intermediate pipe(part# 51002) made by DynoMax.

All found at Summit Racing besides the turndown and clamps, sounds much better in person and when I'm not parked under the tin roofed carport.Nice and throaty but not overly loud, and no it doesn't have any similar sound to those coffee can mufflers found on certain foreign cars, vid was taken with a crappy digital camera.

I'd have to say, based on all the videos I've watched on Youtube regarding aftermarket muffler on the KJ, I am going to be joining the Flowmaster crowd. I had one on my Explorer and loved it. I am impressed with the sound of the Liberty with one on it. Flowmaster has always been a great product.

Brand is undebatable ;) I've listened to the flowmasters and don't like the airy sound. I like the sound of that ultra race muffler a lot.
