we have an 05 kj limited 3.7 4x4 with 76000 miles on it. It is all stock other than a remote start and bfg all terrains. It is in perfect condition, including all new brakes(rotors and pads all around). All fluids have been changed recently, and has had mobil 1/napa gold filter every 3000 since we have had it. Can you give me an idea of what it would sell for, located near chicago, IL

Thanks

Best advice I can give to search the local classifieds for similar Jeeps and price accordingly. In the end, regardless of what you may beleive it to be worth, it's only worth what someone is willing to pay.

I'd say 10k, given retail at a dealer is around 13k here at least.

Back in may or june I tried selling my KJ in Chicago and got it appraised at a few dealers.
2005 KJ Sport with 28,000 miles perfect condition absolutely nothing wrong super clean.
Got it appraised a bunch of times including at the Jeep dealer and other dealers,
and i got offers ranging from $6800 (WTF!) to $9000 from the dealers. (which definitely pissed me off)
I took it to Carmax in oak lawn and got the highest offer which was $10,500.
Definitely wasn't going to take that little for the truck that had only 28,000 on it.

Good luck though...

Drive that thing man. I would think that your Jeep gets lonely sitting in the driveway. Get it out, like kids and puppies it has to socialize.

Well it is 5 years old(about to be 6) and a average of $1500-$2000 a year loss in value is pretty standard, heck you loose 25%-40% value the moment you drive it off the lot(if brand new).

I get what you're saying, but unless I was getting an SRT-8,
there's no way I'd sell my KJ, I just love it too much! :licklips:

FWIW kbb reports mine as worth about $8300 for "good condition" on private party resale. Mine is an '04 sport with 90,000.

I feel that $8300 is a bit high, especially given the economy right now.

kbb describes "good condition" as thus:

Free of any major defects.
Clean title history, the paints, body, and interior have only minor (if any) blemishes, and there are no major mechanical problems.
Little or no rust on this vehicle.
Tires match and have substantial tread wear left.
A "good" vehicle will need some reconditioning to be sold at retail.

Mine certainly has no "major defects". The paint has pretty good pinstriping from offroading, so that's where I'd probably ding my price (pun fully intended).

The body doesn't have any dents.

There are no known mechanical problems, let alone "major" mechanical problems. There is no rust on my truck whatsoever. The tires have some wear on them, but they may need to be replaced by the beginning of next summer.

The interior is spotless with custom leather- aside from some scratches on the rear plastic swing gate jam from sliding some stuff in and out of the jeep. Carpets and headliner are unblemished.

Everything else is standard equipment for the basic sport. Stock sound system.
