using winch like a capstan

I was just wondering if anyone has used their winch like a capstan, I burn wood to save on the heating bill and often winch logs with the liberty, using the remote and some synthetic winch rope, I should be able to keep it at full tilt and be able to have more pulling rope for longer pulls, I can't be the first to think of this, Thanks

You mean a capstan like on a ship? The line gets rounded around the shaft three times and the bitter end gets flanked out behind the work area.

First question....how far is your pull? If not very far just use the winch to pull things towards the jeep.
