Is it wrong to join a site that seems to specialize in offroading and trail modification if the extent of my 4x4 action is either snow or lawn jobs? I don't mean residential lawn jobs either, I have always specialized in commercial medians or divided highways. Any kind of concrete barrier to a grass or mulch inner has been a victim when the feeling was right. I see what everyone does to their rides and only wish that was me. Unfortunately, I fall short of that mod and desire to be daring and the cash to do it. I know I could be the Jeep pozer, but this was also my thing with my Explorer Sport. No parking lot was safe when I had somehwhere to be, and a few drinks in me. I now have a newer vehicle, my 2006 Liberty Renegade, and I would like to do some mods, but more on the side of street/appearance over trailing. I wish I could do the trail thing but this is my primary vehicle and I can't afford to f[_]ck it up. For the record, I love all of the lifted and trailed LIberties. I wanted a Wrangler but the wife squashed that idea like, well, nevermind that. I love the Liberty, took a bit to get used to being smaller, but I love it. I hope I don't get lossed in the shuffle of off road mods when I am a Concrete Cowboy. Yehaww and where TF is my Flowmaster???? (oh, I have to order it!)

do me and the rest of the responsible Jeep owners on this board a favor
sell your Jeep and get another Ford what ever
you admit to drinking and driving?
along with destroying public property?
I have had 2 close relatives and a good friend all killed by drunk drivers
in 2 different crashes
I also have a very close friend who is an EMT and they "scrape up the drunks on the highway" all the time
Not to mention that I put a great deal of effort into promoting Jeeping and off roading as a family oriented event with responsible people and one "person" like your self can destroy months of work
this is why public lands are being taken away
they think we are all like YOU
drinking and ripping stuff up

Thanks for making me look bad

Wow....guess I shoulda specified I was not obliterated. Seems like someone looked a little too deep into my post. If it makes you feel any better, I'm on a 24/7 random drug and alcohol testing regime for my job, so I was never "drunk driver" classified. I will do the obligatory apology to you for your loss. My point was aimed more at the fact I am an offroading ****. But thanks for turning this into your personall MADD forum. I was speaking more generally, and for the sake of entertainment, exaggerating my off road/median escapades. If this is what you Mr J-Thompson AKA Holier than thou was hoping for, here it is... I am a Jeep Newbie! I feel like a poser because of the knowledge and understading many Jeep owners have. I feel like I made a mistake buying such a vehicle when I know nothing of it's history nor future. I wish Mr. J-Thompson could show me how to be a better Jeep owner while still staying within my budget and fun spending limit. I apologize oh great one. I wish I hadn't been so intoxicated where I could have chosen more words more carefully and not thought to try and get a cheap laugh by saying what I did. I am a ******!

Wow what a drama queen!! If you have ever driven tired or sleepy your are a murderer and should be shot, as it has been proven time and time again to impair judgment and reactions more than booze. Get real dude.

Welcome and remember the only one that has to be happy with your Liberty is You!! It is your rig and what you do with it is what is important. Make it work for you, admire the work others do to theirs, but don't waste a bunch of money turning your daily driver into a trashed out trail rig unworthy of the roads.

Welcome from Beautiful British Columbia, Canada!

Congratulations on becoming a 2006 Jeep Liberty owner.
Start by enjoying driving your new KJ. Then as time goes by you will soon enough discover what modifications you would like or may need to add to your rig to suit your needs.
Other than that, chill a little RegegadeJay!
I'm the only one here who is allowed to piss off other members of this forum with tasteless abrasive posts!!!::D:D:D

You don't have to feel bad at all, I'm in a very similar position. I got my '04 sport in Aug 2007 and haven't done any mods...yet. I've always wanted to be a "car guy" and know how to do maintenance and upgrades myself, lacked the cash and resources. I started out REALLY easy doing oil changes, got comfortable there and last summer changed my own spark plugs, exciting stuff I know. Now I'm working up to doing the brakes and suspension. My brother-in-law has a crazy lifted/modded Wrangler and I catch shit all the time for having a "*****" Jeep. Of course, I haven't had to spend upwards of 5K on repairs due to unfortunate off-roading mishaps either. Anyway, enjoy your ride your way.

J-Thompson, Back-n-Black, belvedere ; Judge not, lest ye be judged yourself... Way to attack a member on their first post (though it was a little too much information)... So, we are to be quite positive that neither of you people, have done anything wrong, EVER? May we call you God, Jesus and the Holy Ghost then? Please, the world needs more people like you, the perfect, the angel, the ultimate human model we are to strive to be like...

Wake up, this is an imperfect world, filled with imperfect beings... Kids today do things I wouldn't dare do, but, times are changing, and humanity is what it is. He does what he does, no one has the right to tell him what you did. You aren't his parents, and you aren't his keepers. The U.S. Government does worse to us EVERY DAY, and you 1st two people dare preach to one person like that? Keep your own house...

I believe Back-n-Black and belvedere were actually defending RengadeJay. Welcome to the Jeep club RenegadeJay. All I have to say is once you do start modding your jeep you will become addicted and find different ways to dump money into your rengade, so holding back for now is probably not a terrible idea. I spend most of my time on LOST, but I still like to lurk around other sites such as this one. This site seems to have more room for opinions that LOST, so be ready.

FROM SOMEONE WHO UNDERSTANDS:

WELCOME TO JEEPKJ! The site where we don't care about what you do to your Liberty or any other Jeep, really (with the exception of an overabundance of chrome :D :D ) as long as you ENJOY it and what you've DONE or haven't done to it!

Offroading NOT necessary here!

Welcome to the boards.

You can be like me and drive the only stock KJ on the forums. I've been doing it for 7 years now and no one seems to mind.

These people have tons of information to share.

Welcome!!!! I'm also one of those guys that haven't done a big modification. Heck, I don't even use my 4wd. I'd be more tempted to do a lift and mudders if there was a decent trail around me. But the next set of tires will definately be AT's. You're the one making the payments, you get to pick the mods. :D

Thanks to everyone for being cool. The last thing I meant to do was become a problem by my 5th post. I usually wait until 20. You all have awesome looking vehicles, even us stockers look good too. I never realized the Liberty had such a following until I found the site. Thanks again, and I promise not to piss anyone else off for at least the next couple days. Maybe even longer if I stay away from my computer.

I strongly suggest you first try out your jeep renegaqde in real offroad... If you cant get passed that 'spot' you woulve wanted and you end up gettting stuck, try to find a better way around. If that happens too many time (im thinking by then youll have some $$ in the piggy bank for that), then you go and get it lifted as i am doing right now...
What i really mean; First give your jeep a try and see if it isnt already enough for you. If you say your an offroad **** (no offense but your call as you said), you probably dont really need to lift it or anything and leaving it like it is and put money where u most need it would be better. MOST importantly= Before you put money into some bank account, you do have to like the bank itself and trust them with your money ... Same applies to vehicules and girls... If you dont like to ride it dump it ...

Interesting

I'm a new Jeep owner too & I'm dying to throw money at it LOL ..I've already put the "Renegade" decals on the hood, tinted the glass & CB installation is forthcoming ...

I have a pending appointment with 4WheelParts for a lift on the 23rd of this month & shopping for BIGGER tires :) Yea.......I'm hooked!

Anyway, I somewhat agree with J-thompson on the drinking / driving / trashing public property but, I'm not here to pass judgement on you. I get the distinct impression from your post that you already realize something isn't "right" about what you enjoy but....if we weren't all a little crazy, we wouldn't be pouring moeny into modifying our "toys" :)

Welcome to the board - I've found it to be a great place full of excellent people, and advice -

Enjoy your Renegade & be safe out there!

That's right, trailman. Thanks for clarifying, and thanks for actually reading the post to understand what it means.

I guess reading comprehension is a little difficult for some folks.
