I have an 05 liberty thats has a code that reads stuck brake switch. All the part stores I try want to sell me a brake light switch. I know that one of my brakes is dragging or "stuck" but not sure how or what part I need to fix this.
Any info ?
thanks

JDRL, Welcome to the forums. Code is : brake switch #1, circuit high
If you have discs (rotors) all the way around. Which brake is dragging?
Disc rotor's utilize calipers, and that would be the part that may need replacement when dragging is felt, with inspection of caliper and rotors and brake fluid bleeding completed after new calipers is installed.
It is best that both sides are done together, so that they have even beginning.
It is best with an ABS system that you consult a brake professional for service.
That being said with a shop manual, you can do a lot of work yourself and gain knowledge about the systems and vehicle you own.
Others may chime in regarding the specific code, as you may have two problems one that the code is relating to a brake switch, second being a caliper. The dealer would possibly be able to advise on that code via a phone call as well.

Somewhere between being sane and insane!
Is it sometime hard to shift out of park? Or can shift out of park without touching the brake pedal?

There is a brake light switch that is connected to the brake pedal and is the only thing that will set that code.A sticking caliper will not set a code.

Or, are the brake lights on all the time? I see cars like that on the road out here- drives me nuts.

Thanks for the reply's.
I have been on the road driving the stuck brake liberty. Just got a chance to hit the fourm.

1. its one of the front brakes.
2. disks all around.
3. No the brake lights are not on all the time.

If i remember this right its the front right, I have changed the pads 2x on the front int the last 20,000 miles.
The dealer had it for a few days but when I went to pick it up they said to come back another time, because they had no idea yet.
I have not had the time.
But again thanks for the help. Could the switch under the brake be causing this?

A code for the brake light switch will have zero effect on your actual service brakes. If you have a stuck brake caliper it will have nothing to do with the brake pedal switch.

So no the brake pedal switch has nothing to do with a sticking caliper.
