Hey guys, I want to get a nice set of tires for my lib. I live in Central CT/ Westchester NY so i would be dealing with those weather conditions as per snow and rain. I would like to start off roading a little bit so that need be considered. Also, I want something that adds a little beef to the jeep. something looking knobby and makes it alittle taller. Any suggestions?

my money would be on the Geolander AT's or Firestone Destination AT's. Both tires get awesome reviews. I have had both before and cannot complain about either one. If $ is a concern, the Destinations are the best bang for you buck too. www.tirerack.com has got all the specs and info to check out.

I know I am nowhere near as knowledgeable as everyone else here, and I'm glad you asked because in the next few weeks I was gonna ask the same question. I have been considering the Goodyear Silent Armors and wanted to get expert opinions on them. From what I read they sound good for daily driving and inclimate weather. Opinions??

the question is
"what do you want from your tires"
I just ordered the Yoko.'s for 1 reason
Price
at only $408 for 4 of them I felt that I could not beat that deal
and considering that we just spent the money on the MTR-K's for the TJ
we really did not have the cash on hand to do it again
while the Goodeyear Silent Armors are probably a solid tire ,same tread as the old ATS's that I had, to me that is to much money for a tire that is middle of the road at best
yeah they are a great tire for a 3/4 or 1 ton truck but over kill for a KJ

now give me a few months on the Yoko's and I will be happy to let you know what I think of them

What about the Wrangler Silent Armors?....You said the Forteras come on other jeeps?

Can't say much about the silent armors, but the Fortera's are great in Colorado snow and ice.....and very quiet.:)

Yes.

BTW, J-Thompson, how are the Yoko's so far???:)

sitting in a pile in the garage
they will not be mounted until next week

like I said ,after rebate they were $102 each before they were $112
I knew the KJ needed tires and I knew that these were on sale until 7/5
so I got them

I should start collecting royalties, but I'll say it again. Pirelli Scorpion AT/Rs. Great look, great performance, says "Pirelli" on it, and they are competitively priced (or sometimes cheaper).

really?
they look close to the same if you ask me
and they cost $30+ more per tire compared to the Yokohama's
so what makes them so great?

keep in mind that I have MTR-K's now and had swampers for off road so
to me that is a pointless argument and as far as I am concerned just about all AT's ,out side the BFG AT, are the same
so what makes these better?
