Hi All ... I removed the spare tire bracket to take care of a little rust I saw from the top.
I am left with the bracket reinforcements (2 horizontal black metal plates) on the studs and I am pretty sure that they are completely rusted to the tail gate. No amount of gentle force will remove them. Am I missing something?
I can see that the previous owner smacked into something with the spare as there is a slight dent, that may have ruined the finish under the brackets and accelerated the rust. The entire bracket(s) is actually bubbled with rust under the (black) paint
I guess my question is .. is there a trick to removing the bracket reinforcements? or should I just get out the chisel? since the paint under there is definitely done anyways
Thanks in advance!
EDIT* Found it ... when will I learn to use Google instead of this crappy search function
