rear window probs :( any help? please????/

just wondering if anyone can help me please!!!?!?!? i have a 2005 jeep liberty. as of the last few months, the rear glass window keeps on popping open automatically. I close it, then it reopens. It doesnt do it everyday, but now, more often than not. Ill walk out to my jeep in the morning and find that it opened up sometime after i went in my house many hours later sometimes, when i go in the back to unload something, ill hear a repeat clicking as if i am pushing the unlock button from my keys in my hand, when i am actually not. any help or ideas?!?

Im not sure if that recall covered the rear glass on 05's or not but on my 04 there was a recall for that problem. Someone else may know if your jeep was covered.

You can enter your Vin on jeeps website to check for any out standing recalls.

I thought the Steiger system was for window regulators only? Or do they have a system to fix the popper mechanism on the flipper glass on the back side of the KJ as well?

As mentioned though - Chrysler had issues with the latch system for the flipper glass back in 2004. A trip to the dealer will fix you up - but I don't know what would or wouldn't be covered under warranty.

Keep the remote out of your pocket, hang it up or toss it on a table when you go in. Or are you?

I thought i had a problem at first because my rear window kept getting popped, damn remote button is too sensitive and when its in my pocket something else would push against it and pop...

You can also do the programming change that requires to push and hold the rear window button for it to open, that stops most of the accidental taps popping it open.

sounds like the latch is sticking open.. I had this same damn problem I took some WD-40 and sprayed on the locking mech and latch and it stopped opening by it's self, it acted like it wasn't fully catching..

That could be it too... Mine was doing that when it was really cold and the grease in the latch was getting thick and frozen... I'm going to degrease it and put in some fresh low temp grease this summer so it doesnt do that to me next winter.

I had this exact problem and fixed it!!! Open your rear hatch and remove the large plastic cover and moisture cover thing. On the other side of the handle, there is a short pig tail connection. The other end is inserted near the rear handle. I pulled mine out and it was full of water, corrosion and was actually split in half. This is a little actuator which pops the glass when you initially pull the handle on the tailgate. It is around $15 for the pigtail connection. I went to Chrysler and they said I couldn't buy the part separately and had to buy the complete unit which was $350.....not the case! Phoned a different dealership and they had it no problem. Mopar part # CENAD160

i had the same problem on my liberty so i took off the back door handle there is a celenoid cable attach to it so take off the clip and pull lightly on the switch and buy a new one 17$ and my window never open by itself after .
