Problem opening and closing my tailgate glass

Hi guys,
I'm having a problem with my tailgate glass opening and closing. If I open the tailgate with the handle, the latch will not release the glass and pop open. I need to use the keyfob to pop the glass and then open the tailgate. I remved the doorpanel and nothing looks broken.

Is this going to be an expensive dealer part?

when you pull on the handle does it make a mechanical sound? if you cant hear anything in the back end it might be the actuator that is faulty. my moms liberty had an actuator go out and she could only open the glass but not the door

It wouldn't be the actuator though since it works with the key fob as that just powers the same thing the switch in the door handle does when you pull it. Sounds like the switch in the door handle/latch is bad.

Mine does the SAME THING dude. When I turn the ignition key off, and get out, only my door unlocks, nothing else, not even the rear door lock, so I can't open the tailgate. If I use the unlock button on the door, to open all locks when I open the door, then I can open the tailgate without issue. It's NOT a problem, or malfunction, that's how some are programmed. So, you either have to PRESS the button on your door to unlock everything or just press the FOB x2 for the tailgate, so what's the big deal?

SO, next time you get out of the car, unlock ALL the doors with your driver button, then try the tailgate & glass. Or, press the Key Fob to unlock it, either way, you have that extra step, be it on your DOOR or on the Key Fob.

The mechanism may just need to be cleaned and re-lubricated.
