The only stupid question is the question that's never asked.
But yeah, they'd have to prove that the failure was caused by the headunit. It will not void your entire warranty. Like let's say a speaker was blown due to the increased power of the headunit. That most likely won't be covered. But when your window regulator breaks, they'd still have to fix it.
What was that act called? Moss-Magnuson or something? Basically, it's supposed to protect the consumer from dealers denying repairs due to unrelated modifications - like Marlon said, if your window regulator goes out, they'd have to prove that the stereo install was at fault.
There are no stupid questions, just stupid answers....
And while I'm at it: no-one knows as much as all of us...

Now if i replace the head unit do i need to do anything else?
My new unit sounds pretty sweet now.
Soooo, did you already replace it or not? You phrased it two different ways to lead us to believe you have and have not replaced it.
Every liberty is different. If you have a limited liberty then its likely you have the infinity system. If you do you must hook up the pre-amp wire to the new head unit so it turns on the amps which are mounted on the front speakers. If you replace those you must put in a 4 channel amp since those amps control all the speakers and you also need some components if you want to keep the tweeters in the dash..
