Power Steering Line and Pump

i am new to this forums but have had my liberty for years. the power steering started leaking a couple years ago and i took it in because i had no time to fix it myself. they changed out the high pressure hose and everything was fine. then it started leaking again and they changed out the line again saying the first one was defective. long story short its on its 5th line now and ******* power steering fluid everywhere. i am going to replace the pump and the line myself this time and see if that fixes it. do you guys think this is the right course of action? what would you guys do in this situation? the new pump does not come with the reservoir on it is that hard to change over to the new pump? also in the service manual it says to remove the cooling fans and stuff, is this necessary or can it get the pump out without removing all that stuff?

It sounds like someone is messing something up on the install, or something.

yeah the first one was the original, the next two were after market ones, and one after that and the current one are chrysler. mind you i only paid for one of those because they broke so fast after that i went back to the shop and they took care of it. i was reading in the manual that there is something in the pump that regulates the pressure, i am thinking that that part is messed up and putting too much pressure to the line. before i order the parts and tear it apart does this make sense to you guys?

Have you looked at the hoses to see where they are failing? When I first got my Jeep I noticed the power steering hoses all rub against each other. I noticed the high pressure hose was getting some wear on it so I wrapped them all in wire loom.

May want to check that out.

And changing out the power steering pump is easy if you can use a wrench.

looking under the hood this weekend, i was doing some cleaning and just getting familiar with her, i would say no to removing fans and stuff to do the pump. Just remove the serpentine belt and get wrenching. One thing i really like underhood on the KJ, everything is right there to work on, Alternator, AC Compressor, Power Steering Pump, etc... All easy swaps compared to my experience in transverse mounted engine vehicles.

changing pump is fairly simple,where pressure hose goes under/behind headlight is kind of tight,on my 02 pump end of hose was 5/8 i think,lower end 18mm.
