Is there a problem with the O2 sensors on the 04 Liberty Sport 3.7L engine? In the three years that I've owned my Libby I've had them fail three times.

Bad gas/driving style(not bad just not good either) or in fact they where not at fault at all but a intermitent problem that shows up as bad O2 sensors and the true problem has never been properly found. Is there a problem with the O2 sensors on the 04 Liberty Sport 3.7L engine? Speaking of this, occasionally I get a rotten egg smell but I never have seen a check engine light. I cannot even be certain that it is my car. Is anything I can do to check or would the CEL be on.
What can cause Oxygen Sensor to fail?
Most 02 sensors fail due to contamination or continued use of additives/race gas. Most O2 sensors slowly degrade in performance and send a false rich signal to the ECU, resulting in the engine running too lean.
Fuel additives and injector cleaners that are labeled as "oxygen sensor safe" may be used, stay away from additives that do not carry this distinction.
wait, is that a rav4 forum???![]()
