Is there a problem with the O2 sensors on the 04 Liberty Sport 3.7L engine? In the three years that I've owned my Libby I've had them fail three times.

Nope, never heard anything about anyone having a problem with them. Ive never had any problems with them on my 04.

Are all four sensors failing or just one of them?

Speaking of this, occasionally I get a rotten egg smell but I never have seen a check engine light. I cannot even be certain that it is my car. Is anything I can do to check or would the CEL be on.

I had to replace an O2 sensor on an '04 before. I can't remember which one though but it was at around 23k miles? I think.

I had to replace the number 2 one on the drivers side at 80,000 or so can't remember but it did not go bad, caught it with a tree limb out wheeling , pulled the wire over against the exhaust pipe and burnt it up:mad:, oh well 30 bucks and good as new:D:D:D

Bad gas/driving style(not bad just not good either) or in fact they where not at fault at all but a intermitent problem that shows up as bad O2 sensors and the true problem has never been properly found.

Somewhat normal for catalytic converter.

I believe continuous use of fuel additives can also be very damaging to O2 sensors.

What can cause Oxygen Sensor to fail?
Most 02 sensors fail due to contamination or continued use of additives/race gas. Most O2 sensors slowly degrade in performance and send a false rich signal to the ECU, resulting in the engine running too lean.
Fuel additives and injector cleaners that are labeled as "oxygen sensor safe" may be used, stay away from additives that do not carry this distinction.

My rear left O2 sensor has been acting up since this summer. Some days the light will come on others it stays off...even goes on and off while driving at times. Checked the connections...everything is fine....even pulled it out and put it back in
I hate to spend $70 for a sensor....that's what they are worth up here anyway.
