Update:
Jeep seems to be running good after 60 miles or so on the new injector, no CEL.

I just stopped by a dealership to ask if they can pull service records but said if it wasn't done at that dealership they can't but they could pull up warranty work. Odd though because VW can pull up service records anywhere.

I got a quote on a full drive train refresh with the front diff, transfer case, transmission flush and fill, rear diff and coolant flush with oil change for just over $800. I know all of this can be done at home and I can do it all but I would like them to do a once over on the truck and make sure everything else is in working order.
What do you think about that price? I'm going to call another dealership and see what they quote

Sounds like a rip. You can do the diffs and tcase yourself, let them do the trans and coolant. Should be able to get those done for $400 or less. I think a transmission flush at my dealer was $150. Coolant is probably the same.

Copy. Let me run that by the next dealer and see what they say.

The diffs should be very similar to my Subaru diff right?

Front one is easy, just a drain and fill plug. I think the drain one is a 8mm hex key (it's the same as whatever the coolant bleed screw is) and the fill is just a 3/8" dr extension/ratchet.

Rear you just have to take the cover off and then re RTV it. Worst part of either is the smell of gear oil, followed by getting the new oil in. I use a hand pump that screws on the the gear oil bottle. Use dino oil, works better for these than synthetic.

Still too high!

find a real ****** shop to do the trans flush plus you might need a band adjustment while the pan is off.

No band adjustment on these...trans shop is good if they use ATF+4.

Sounds decent for California including parts and fluids.
Of course it would be cheaper if not at the dealership.
It is your money, do what you like.

Are they changing the t stat too?

Yes this is California so prices may vary but they seem fair for a dealer as I am used to my VW and those German parts are much more expensive. I do want them to check out my shaky idle and an overall check on it because I can't seem to find any type of Jeep specialist around here.

They will be doing the transmission and coolant flush. I will confirm on the coolant flush as it may not be needed but I would like to make sure the cooling system is on point as it's probably going to be in the 100's here this summer like the last 3

Just wanted to give an update after putting almost 1500 miles on the KJ. After replacing the number 4 injector the CEL has not come back on and it drives perfectly. I've put the 1500 miles on with ease and this truck is doing exactly what I wanted it to, I am very happy with it so far.

Good to hear. Also, I worked at a VW dealer here in MI; we couldnt see any service records that were not repairs or maintenance not done under warranty. If there was "customer pay" work done, even at another VW dealer, we could not see those repair orders.

Maybe there's a different dealer network in CA.

Glad you got your problem sorted, hope the Jeep stays running good!

Ps.. if it wasn't the coils, I hope you held onto the OE ones.. I'm running duralast ones, but will admit that worn oem ones are likely still just as good, or better, than the knock offs

Just wanted to give an update after having my KJ for 15 months. I've put 12k miles here in Los Angeles and so far it's running like a champ. Of course I did some maintenance on it when I got it last year but I've been driving it and using it a lot and it's been really good to me. I have not had the CEL come back after replacing one clogged injector. Currently it's sitting at 50k miles.

Ya sorry musta missed the OEM plugs replacement/ 040 gap.
You can see the live misfires on high end scanners.

You must be registered for see images attach

Provides a count in live time, gives you an idea how bad it can be.
Mine was misfiring at part throttle 1650-1700 rpm and you could feel an engine shake, and then see it live.
TPS was sticking a bit due to worn tang in rear of TPS.
Throttle plate was also slightly binding, dremel polishing took place.
Might be worth a try to get one new mopar coil on #4
Fuel injector electronic pulses can be viewed on high end scanners if someone knows what they are doing as well.
I had no engine light. It takes a lot of misfires for it to turn the light on.
Ya clear the code and then run /drive it after clearing.

Was the TPS the cause of the misfire? i believe i am having a similar misfire, the only code i am getting is p0304. definitely a bad engine shake at warm idle (600rpm) and when coasting if i am lightly pressing throttle and holding rpms from about 1500-1800 i can feel a shake.

I have already ruled out the following items, Plugs and coils, plugs are zfr6f-11g gapped to .040", asd relay, valve/lifter issue, i just mistakenly replaced the lifters this summer, the heads looked immaculate, pcv valve was just replaced, checked for vaccuum leaks, tightened up all connections for the intake.

i was thinking a clogged injector, just ordered a completely new set. but after reading your post i am hoping it will be something simple like the TPS, because my next items to check are the fuel pump and the pcm.

resistance on the injectors are all right about 15 ohms, and using a stethoscope they are all being actuated correctly.

thanks in advance for your help TC!
