I just bought a 2006 liberty to tow my boat and for a daily driver, I drove it 800 miles from where I bought it with no problems, now about a week later my abs, bas, esp lights are coming on when I first start the jeep and stay on for about 2-3 minutes. So far it seems like after it is warmed up and restarted the lights don't come on. Any ideas or suggestions, I don't really want my wife driving it until I straighten this out. (that last sentence was for the insurance company) Thanks in advance, the site seems great so far, and I like to tinker so I'm sure I'll be asking more questions.

I agree, check the codes.

Could be a bad battery/alternator. Could also be a bad wheel speed sensor.

SO, you have backed your boat into the water, and submerged your REAR end of the car? Yeah, my former VAN did the same thing... It was all fine till the first time I towed the boat, and went bumper deep into the water. My Rear ABS light would come on, but after it dried out, it was fine. Then, from then on, even when it would rain? Yeah, ABS light...

When the BAS and ESP light is on, that would be a Clock Spring Angle Sensor, mine were on AFTER it warmed up, not at start up. The dealer replaced it, because I just BOUGHT it. Just go to Auto Zone, or Pep Boyz and have them pull the codes dude, it's free.

I haven't put the rear end into the water , but we did get almost 18" of wet snow last week and I couldn't resist trying out the new toy. I live in Northern Ontario, don't have a Pep Boys or Autozone, but I'll try to get the codes from my mechanic. Thanks maltb

My mechanic took the codes andthey are pointing to the right rear speed sensor. I took the sensor out and found water in the elec plug. I dried out the plug and sensor with a heat gun and reinstalled, its still intermitent. One of the terminals was corroded and I cleaned it as best as I could but I couldn't get into the plug end to clean it, I guess I'll have to change the sensor. Thanks for the advice maltb

Check the harness side of the connector too - after 1 year on my KJ I had the same problem. Dealer replaced the sensor, and as I pulled out of the lot the light went on again. Ended up that the harness terminals had corroded. They had to replace those too.

So, it may not even be the sensor, may be the terminals on the harness side.

I have a similar problem except my lights never go off!

Check out my post here: http://www.jeepkj.com/forum/showthread.php?t=38218

I've replaced both rear wheel sensors, pulled the battery overnight, and the connectors look like new on the rear wheel sensors. Mechanic said my codes are for the left rear wheel related. Been awhile now and I still can't figure it out.

Is your cruise control dead when the lights are on?

Post up anything that gets it working for you!
