Hi all,
Im a prospective kj owner in the UK, looking to find a small 4x4 for some mild off roading, but reasonable on road handling. I have a soft spot for XJs but the more I look at modified KJs the more I like them, and I'm guessing their on road manners are vastly superior. They're also pretty cheap over here.
Here's the catch - I'm sure I'll come under fire for this - I'm looking to do an EV conversion. It would be motor running through the (manual) transmission (cheap and very capable).
One of the hurdles I see in this is that I want to keep lights, electric windows, the tailgate, abs, central locking, air vents etc working.
I don't mind losing the dashboard if it's too complicated to keep, and sound system is up for debate too.
So I was wondering if anyone knows what the BCM looks after, and what it's minimum requirements are to keep it functioning? And are there particular model years that are preferable?
I've also thought about 'spoofing' the PCM sensors and then keeping the PCM just so it talks to the BCM (using I believe Chrysler's own protocol) but that feels like a tough job.
If it looks too painful then it may well be the wrong platform.
Any and all advice greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
B60
