Metal screen behind glove box

It would make sense that the glove box screen would be the intake air for re-circulation.
It's not that large, fitment of a "filter" could be possible, but would a filter then reduce airflow?
For filtration, I have considered installing one that is washable.
IDK would an open cell type foam be good enough?

Why put a filter on the inside. It will reduce some air flow. I just wipe mine off to get the dust and lint that has accumulated on the screen.
