I have an '06 Limited. I live in snowy Colorado where they put plenty of magnesium chloride on the roads here in the winter. This seems to wreack havoc on the chrome trim. I cannot get it cleaned up to save my life. Anyone seen this before and have suggestions to make it nice and "purdy" again? Would this fall under the corrosion warranty?

Wow, that looks tarnished/spotted or something. I have never noticed that on mine and I have the chrome trim. They use a lot of road salt here too. I wonder if that could be a defect in the plastic coating or something??? Since it's an 06 you could take it to the dealer and talk to them. I know that is really streatching it. But how do you know that other people in your area do/don't have that problem? In the pic's it looks like only the plastic chrome is affected and not the painted body.

I don't know what you could try to clean it with, but if it is not cleanable, then I would think "defect".

Just my thoughts.

It's not real chrome is it ,the trim pieces are plastic ,it looks like the road salt has eaten through the laquer.

Yeah, that's what it looks like to me. I think I will go for a warranty fix (under the corrosion clause).

I wouldnt bet on chrysler fixing anything like that under warranty. They will say its normal wear and tear.

I would try something called Meguiars Plastx, its made for polishing plastics.

Jeep replaced my Dad's mouldings. It's definitely worth a shot of having it replaced. Greg
