How high do you guys think I need to get my truck off the ground to install a 3" lift? I know I'm going to need another jack because all I have is a low profile for my car. I already need a 2x4 on it to get the wheels off, so I think a new jack for the jeep is a must. Any recommendations?

Get you some 6 ton jack stands from Harbor Freight
or any cheep tool store
These are the taller ones and require no wood under them
for any lift on a KJ
Will work on a TJ with the addition of 4 2X12's
under each stand
Also the harbor freight ones are the same basic build as
the snap-on brand

I have like 5 sets of jack stands. I'm worried about my jack because I have one of those low profile craftsman and I think it only goes up to 17". Last time I used it on my Liberty, I had a hard time taking it off stands, when I was finished. And I didn't even have it to high. Needed two block. I like my jack but I'm going to need another one for the Liberty. I'll check out that craftsman professional series one. I had a big red (JUNK!), that lifted like 24", and that thing only last once for my header install. THANKS :party52:

I have one of these. http://www.harborfreight.com/Rapid-...dium=email&utm_campaign=2311b&utm_source=1002 They go on sale semi-regularly for $69.99. Actually, mine is the older, non-rapid pump version. But I have used the heck out of it for over 10 years and never a single problem. I have a 4x4 block that I use in addition with a permanent circle crushed in it from the lift plate so it stays on nice and snug.

My KJ has a wesway lift (sitting about 20" all the way around) I also have a craftsman 2.5ton low profile jack, and I can barely get the wheels off the ground using a 2.5" block on top of the jack.

I'm guessing you will need a higher jack for a "real lifted" Liberty

oh well as far as a Jack I use a 12ton bottle jack
and as much wood as it takes to touch the frame or axle
it is tricky to get the wheels off and let the axles hang on the TJ
with the bottle jack so I use a forklift where I work ,no help to you
the KJ ,sporting all OME, could easily be done with the bottle jack
to change a flat on the TJ a good bottle jack works fine ,I have 33's on a 15" wheel
but I also have a farm jack ,High Lift

For the driveway I also think that a floor jack is good. But...scissor can work with proper blocks to get jack stands on.
I like the stock scissor jack as it compact, fits into jeep, and works. I have about 3 inch lift.
I made 3 "real" one inch thick hardwood blocks, two of which got glued together, and one free if I need to add one more.

I also carry a more heavy duty scissor and they can be found up to 21"
The stock KJ scissor is 17"
