Hi everyone,

As the title states,I am trying to find out what model transfer case is in my 2002 KJ. It started making "dangling chain" noises last fall, so I parked it for the winter...with the weather we've been having, that's a bummer...anyways, come spring I'm going to want to repair/replace it...so how "do" I tell which one I have please???

How do you know for sure it is the transfer case ?
Could be just the rear joint on the front driveshaft thats bad, some folks hear a similar noise when it goes. 50 dollar fix
as far as which one you have an easy way is to tell us what all it says on the 4WD lever
forgot to show
command trac has 2WD, 4High, N, 4 LO
selectrac 2WD, 4HI PT, 4HI Fulltime, N, 4LO

It should also have a tag attached to the rear of the case stating what it is

x2 on the above. I had a similar sound, turned out to be the rear CV joint on the front driveshaft. Same part for either transfercase. But still it's nice to know which t case you have.
