7-Pin connector requires a wire all the way thru firewall to battery..Correct?

If you have the accessory outlet in the cargo area, that is directly wired to the battery..why not just attach the 7-pin wiring there ??

It's also fused...

Why go through the firewall at all? You lose a lot of amperage on the long run from the battery to the back of the vehicle. I ran a new 8 guage wire (about 1/4 inch thick) from a battery isolator under my hood. The isolator is connected to the battery, mounted on the firewall, from there straight down and under the vehicle. Tuck it up along the frame and splice it right to the battery connection pin (wire).

Here is some good reading about the subject:

The whole site contains valuable information about batteries and wiring.
