Hey Everyone....

Just a quick intro...(I was actually here several days ago, doing some research to replace my wife's '05 Blazer (which was sadly totaled in an accident about 2 weeks ago).

I found an '04 Jeep Liberty Sport 4WD here in Calgary, Alberta Canada that was exceptionally clean with reasonable mileage, (had it inspected by a mechanic friend/client who gave it a clean bill of health), and drove it off the lot yesterday.

So far so good, my wife loves its look and feel, and more importantly, feels "safe" in it, which was truly a consideration, as she's still a little nervous driving after the accident.

I'll probably have a ton of questions, (will try not to be annoying (admin))
but it seems that this site has a great community of knowledgeable owners and Jeep enthusiasts, of which I am happy to be apart.

Thanks for everything (in advance !)
as I look forward to meeting many more of you.

(welcome)

I've had my '04 for over 3 years. Just rolled over 100k miles with no issues.

Do you know if the Lower Ball Joint recall work has been done on you KJ yet?

Hey Jo6,

The truth is...I'm not sure.

I've been to the Jeep website, plugged in the last 8 digits of my VIN, and got the message "No Incomplete Recalls or Customer Satisfaction Notifications Exist ". I'm hoping that's a good thing

The mechanic had it up on the hoist and only noticed 2 problems, namely a leaky oil sensor (?) and a differential seal that needed to be replaced. The dealer agreed to fix both prior to delivery, but I haven't been under it since to verify that the work was done.

I'm hoping though...

Welcome to the forum.

If the jeep website said no recalls exist then the ball joints were done.

Hey Dave, thanks for the info and confirmation. I was hoping that was the case, but wasn't sure. I'm actually planning on a few weeks of reading and "vehicle discovery" to take advantage of all the options this Jeep has. Emailed Chrysler for the build sheet this morning which should make things a little easier.

(then comes the fun part in trying to teach my wife how everything works :pp: )

Welcome fellow Canuk.
We too own a 2004 Sport.

Other than a very recent transmission replacement,
It has been an exceptional vehicle for the last five years.
No real major problems or issues.

Thanks for the welcome..(eh !)

Hopefully ours turns out to be as reliable.
(almost wishing for some snow to run it through its' paces....don't think I've ever said that before)

Welcome fellow Canuck!

Safety and Stoutness is why I love my KJ ... 80km/hr into a concrete median (black ice) on a 400 series hwy ... she still got us home... and after a new bumper and air bags she has been running like new for over 2 years now.

P.S. You'll be wishing for snow constantly now ... trust me :D

Wow...glad to hear that you were not only ok, but that you were still able to make it home. I'll definitely pass your experience along as it will undoubtedly make my wife feel better about surviving another impact.

Appreciate it !!!
