Ha ha, perfect that I found this forum. I have a 2003 Jeep Liberty and I really need some sage advice because its sitting in the garage with the check engine light on and well, transmission is the culprit. I'll mosey around here for some expert opinions.

I do have questions. If anyone rec's a repair shop, let me know. I know of this place with the name Just Jeeps & More. I've never been there.

Prob's with the transmission if I can describe it.... Its as if it doesn't change gears. Just gets stuck in a lower gear at 40mph and strains the entire time. Hence, it's parked at the moment. I had a repair shop do some work on it back in September. The solonoids were replaced. I don't know what on earth solonoids do, lol. It drove ok until just last week. The code readings are P1776 Trans and P0305. I have no idea what these mean. I was just driving and as it started this mess I stopped at a mechanic I use for routine maintenance. He checked those codes.

I'm just guessing that I will likely be fixing/replacing the transmission.

It has about 87k miles on the odometer. Its an 03' 3.7L V6 4x4.

Thank you big time in advance if you can tell me how to get this thing fixed. :)

Well I am definitely no mechanic, and I too am a new liberty owner, however, a quick search brought me here:

Transmission Issue - JeepForum.com

I only read the first couple of posts, but there seems to be more info if you google your codes.I'm not so sure you will need a new ****** though. And by the way your 300 code is a misfire, 305 means on cylinder #5.

Good luck, and ya welcome to the forum.

Valve sticking, linkage out of adjustment...a visit to a dealer or good trans shop is in your near future. Could be easy (linkage).

Did the shop put in ATF+4 as is required or did they put in generic ATF? If not the right stuff, it can stick things up inside the ******.
