Where do you mount this kinda thing in the Jeep?
The mount on it does not look like a Garmin one..IDK...
I guess I have to find a store and see what everyone else recommends universal kit or something...
On the left side it looks like ya can slide a SDDC card into it..Can you update maps on this unit?
Maybe this thing is outdated & I should just buy a new one with mounts?

Might still work, but... (see below)

It looks like the one on mine, but the half that goes to the suction cup for the windshield is missing. I'm sure you could replace the mount.

See that small USB port on the right side of the back? Mine has the same port. I plug it into my computer and update the maps using the Garmin software.

Here's the "see below" part:

Mine came with lifetime maps. Other models required an annual subscription. In my opinion, if you can update the maps at no charge it could be useful. If you have to pay $30-40 a year for maps I would just buy a new one with the lifetime update deal - you'll be better off in the long run. Many of the newer models (I bought mine 2.5 years ago) have other nice features, like bluetooth for phone connectivity, live traffic updates, etc. Mine also lets you use a Garmin Mechanic (costs extra) which plugs into the OBDII port and functions like a ScanGauge.

I'd find a USB cable and download the Garmin software. That should tell you whether you can update the maps or not. :)

The part of the mount you are missing just has a suction cup for the windshield on one end and a ball the size of a big marble to pop into the part of the mount you showed in the pictures on the other end. I know they also sell sandbag mounts you basically just set on top of your dashboard. Check out Amazon and eBay and I bet you could find something for however you wanted to mount it. eBay probably has someone selling off the entire mount for a unit which no longer works. They also make brackets you can slide in under the radio bezel and bolt it in there. My personal preference is the windshield mount since I can glance at it without really taking my eyes off the road.

EDIT: Make sure it fits your model, but if this works you're all set for $3!!!

Holy that link you posted is cheap!! ( I want to go shopping with you!) :icon_lol:
Mine is a 265W..though..looks the same!
Ya mine as far as I know is called a G Ball Mount/suction Cup.
Garmin Part # 10-10747-00
Going to call locally and see if there is one handy, so I can match it up In the AM.
The suction cup allows me to easily take it between rides as well.
My link I found was $20 landed coming from Calgary...

Very nice, vehicle/year specific, custom mounts indeed! Can You explain the Ram Mount..dodge ram I take it /year?
Each one seems to be $30 US and you generally need 2 one Dash mount & then the GPS Mount =$60
For those interested I will post a link... Car Phone Holders and Dashboard Phone Mounts*-*ProClip USA
I just want one unit, suction, that can be moved between different vehicles, as I have 2.

Sorry I thought I bought the ram mount (ball) for the garmin but I just checked. I bought the one from pro clip. Ram mount is a company that makes things for gagets
