evic function?

hi all, i was playing with the evic and when i press the reset button for 10 seconds appear an option to select variance, now it is in 8, any body know what is this?

It's for the compass. Depending on which part of the world you live in, you will have to set a different varience number, or your compass won't be accurate. There is a map in the owner's manual.

then i have to change it to 6 but when i go to Atacama's desert i have to change to 7 mmm, better to stick to the garmin

My take, I dont think you really have to change it if your zone occasionally changes. It's like fine tuning on an old TV -- it will still work pretty well if you're close in number.
