Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) Warning Light is on

My son (17) 2007 Liberty had a failing battery. He said that the lightening bolt (ETC) light is on and had zero throttle response. He changed the battery, the ETC light is still on and zero throttle response. Sensor gone? Reset needed?

I had the same ETC light, together with the ESP light in a 2007 Liberty. No codes showed up at the time. Subsequent analyses showed an intermittent P0108 code (MAP sensor "high"). I replaced the MAP sensor and the ETC and EPS lights are now out. Go figure.
