Hello--

I have a 2006 Liberty CRD and the check engine light came on. I took it to Autozone and it showed the "EGR valve" as the error, so I took it to my mechanic and asked him to sort it out. They diagnosed the problem as a faulty EGR solenoid (not the EGR valve itself). He said he called around to his parts suppliers and couldn't find the EGR solenoid but said if I brought him one they could install it (this has been our arrangment on other projects as well, he does good work and this keeps it affordable).

The thing is, I can't find the EGR solenoid anywhere for sale either. Has anyone purchased and replaced this part, am I calling it something funny, or does it come bundled with the EGR valve when you purchase it? Looking for any help tracking this down.

Thanks!

If it's anything like my 2004 the EGR is vacuum operated, the solenoid is the small black cylinder on the left hand side of the engine bay.

..... and the best thing that can happen to the old CRD is the EGR going mysteriously faulty in the closed position! Mine just happened to do that the first weekend after I bought the car. Depending on where you live and if you have emissions checks leaving it alone is an option
