disconnect parking brake

can the cable be disconnected right at the rear wheel? my PS parking brake is seized for some reason and i want to disable it for now

yes you can. i was having a hard time because the two pieces that lever against each other when you pull up on the hand brake were seized.

Is the cable seized? Then cutting or disconnecting might work. However if the hardware is rusted out then it's a huge PITA to disassemble to fix. My jeep has disc brakes and the hardware the cable connected to seized up, major hassle to get it apart to fix.

the cable was fine on mine. it was where the cable connects at the wheel. it hooks onto a flat piece of metal which pivots on another piece and this is what creates the spreading motion to apply the brake. those two pieces of metal were seized together. i got them apart and cleaned them up and the mechanism works like it should now.

the ebrake is still basically not holding at all though. i was hoping fixing this piece would help. do i need to adjust the star wheel more?
