Hey guys,

I have an '03 with a cooling issue. The fan will not come on but only sometimes (though the sometimes has been increasing).

It mostly happens with the A/C on. Its OK with it off. I put a Multimeter on the connector when it was not coming on and only got 4.5 volts. It was 12+ when working. The fan always comes on with a direct shot of 12 volts.

The 40amp fuse is good so I am suspecting a relay but cant find any info on the location. Any ideas? Am I on the right track?

Thanks in Advance!

Found the relay, wacky! I remember my girlfriends old BMW had a blower motor resistor that looked like that.

OK sorry for the million posts, Im playing with it as we speak for once instead of collecting all the info and posting at work. Yep im that guy!

The relay looks quite new though it looks kind of cheap. No marking except for a bar code and a made in Wales sticker.

Is there anything else I should be looking for before heading to Jeep? Are aftermarket relays problematic?

Thanks!

Did you get it muddy? One solution to relays is to take the cover off and clean it. Let it dry and put it back in... that is only what i, the redneck shade tree mechanic would do, and only if it is put through the mud a lot. I am by no means an expert.
