California smog test

I have a stupid question I am hoping someone could answer. I own a 2006 jeep liberty sport v6 that I purchased in Nebraska. I've relocated it into storage in California and now I am going to try and register it there.

Is there any particular reason it would not pass a smog test in California? and if it will not, what all needs to be done to make it California emissions compliant?

You'll be good to go if everything is working right and you don't have a check engine light on, at least for emissions.
