At my local Jeep dealership I saw this outside with a service tag in the window. I have never seen what happens to a Jeep when the ball joint busts, is this what occurs?

Wasn't there a thread somewhere on how to check the balljoints? :-k

yup, looks like a busted ball joint to me. Since the balljoint is basically what holds the wheel to the rest of the vehicle, your wheel is pretty much held on by your suspension, that is if you're going slow enough when it lets go. If you're moving at a decent speed, most times they'll rip the suspension off and thats got to be one hell of a ride.

I've seen them happen on a couple of Tahoe's where the owner tried to roll on twenty-fou's and the ball joints couldn't handle it.

and judging by that Trail Rated badge on the side, wanna bet thats an 04 model?
