Background : The KJ in question was my fathers, i am returning it to a good running condition, i have been working on it for the past 7 months, work included a lot of welding, body work and tinkering. I left the Airbag light till last as i just knew it would be ****.

- Airbag module was sent to airbag specialist, said a transistor was blown and he repaired it.
- Put back into KJ, attempted to clear the codes, would not clear, light is still on

I am not sure what is wrong at this point, i have checked under the seat to make sure no loose connections, including under the steering wheel where there is a yellow capped cable (RH DRIVE), fuses are all working as they should aswell.

Anyone have any thoughts or advice on this issue?

Welcome to the forums.
Air bag codes are no fun.
Often it takes a dealer "star scan" reader to diagnose or pull codes properly/ clear them.
Alternatively a Snap On modis ultra may do the job.

They certainly are no fun ! I've been avoiding main dealer at all costs due to them wanting 176 euro for a ABS sensor, when i heard that i swore never to go to them again. Jeep is going to friends garage tomorrow to see what he can do with it, just need it to get through the CVRT (safety test for Ireland) so i can drive the dam thing !

Best-of-luck.
I also try to stay away from dealer$
Some parts still have to come from them though.

The steering wheel airbag goes through the "Clockspring" which can go bad...I had to replace mine on my 2002 RHD CRD for an airbag light.

Also on the RHD Jeep if you remove the flat vertical panel that you tend to knock your knees on while driving...there is a short cable loom coming from the Clockspring hiding behind it...has 4 or 5 wires on it and it has a male/female connector that joins it to the wiring loom that disappears somewhere....at least on my Jeep this connector exists!

On my Jeep that small male/female connector would not behave itself...I ended up cutting the wires off the connector and soldering them together thus bypassing this connector.

There was some Factory Tech Tip as regards the airbags that required some module to be replaced on the early KJs by the Dealers.

Could be an issue with the side head protection airbags....you need to identify which airbag is complaining!

Just make sure when working on airbag issues that the Battery is disconnected completely and the positive and negative leads are strapped together for 30 minutes to clear any capacitance that could set off the airbags! o_O
